Gnosis Trademarks

This policy governs use of the Gnosis name, logos, mascot, and related brand assets.

The source code for Gnosis is licensed separately under MPL-2.0. That license grants copyright rights in the code. It does not grant trademark rights in the Gnosis brand.

Allowed Without Separate Permission

You may make truthful, non-misleading statements such as:

  • Built with Gnosis
  • Powered by Gnosis
  • Compatible with Gnosis
  • Uses the Gnosis compiler

You may also refer to unmodified copies of this project as Gnosis.

Required Wording for Modified Redistributions

If you distribute a modified version of Gnosis and refer to Gnosis in the product, documentation, release notes, package metadata, marketing, or other user-facing materials, include a clear statement that the distribution is modified and not official.

Approved wording:

Includes modified Gnosis components. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Taylor William Buley.

Short-form wording:

Modified from Gnosis. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Taylor William Buley.

Not Allowed Without Prior Permission

You may not, without prior written permission:

  • use Gnosis as the primary name of a modified fork, product, company, package, domain, social handle, or service
  • use the Gnosis logo, mascot, or other brand assets in a way that implies sponsorship, certification, partnership, or endorsement
  • present a modified version as the official Gnosis release
  • use confusingly similar names, marks, or visual branding for a fork or derivative distribution

Practical Guidance

  • If you use Gnosis as a tool inside a larger proprietary or open-source product, Built with Gnosis is allowed and encouraged.
  • If you modify Gnosis itself and redistribute those modified Gnosis files, follow the source-availability requirements in LICENSE and use one of the modified-distribution disclaimers above.
  • If you are only describing factual compatibility or origin, keep the wording truthful and do not imply endorsement.
